waverly fabric : What color curtains do you put with light pink walls? I thinkI may be the only woman in the world who hates pink, besides mysister. It looks nice, but I just don't like the word ''pink," and it seemsas if pink is a very popular color in this county. Almost everyone Iknow has a pink bathroom. Even most of the women's sneakers in thiscounty are trimmed in pink. We just bought a home and guess what?My husband painted the hall a light pink and the hall has windows. Nowwhat do I do about window dressings? If your husband painted the walls a color you don't like, I'm sorry to say you've got bigger problems than what color curtains to hang <big grin>...Actually, in my house it was the opposite scenario - I painted the walls a mauvey pink color (paint didn't turn out nearly as "rosey" as the color chip) against my hubby's best wishes. It was a fairly large room with two windows and I used a very light cream polished cotton because I was going for a Victorian look in the whole room. It looked nice, but I didn't need to put much color in the window dressings because the room had a lot of other things going on decorating-wise.
waverly fabric : Another couple of friends have a Sherwin Williams pink in their living rooms and one used the traditional cream lined drapes with sheers, while the second friend used a gorgeous busy Waverly fabric consisting of mauve/rose/green/burgundy (and maybe a touch of navy or slate blue) and it really stands out against the pink walls without being gaudy at all.Either white mini blinds or a flat panel of high-quality cotton lace.Aqua, darling! go with a wonderful fifties Florida retro look. Useyellow accents. You'll love it and your family will love YOU for it. (grin) Speaking from experience, as one whose first house had PINK tilewalls and toilet and sink and bathtub ... (ugh! It still gives me nightmaresto think about!)...try gray. You'd be surprised how NICE it can really look ... you can useall sorts of shadings and variations, from pale pewter to deep charcoal, andwith just a bit of black as an accent. Not only does it look good, but itavoids the "frilly, feminine" look that you get when you try to find anypink accessories to match. waverly fabric : How many others have the same situation as Trish, Emerald andI???? I have a DH and two teenage sons and they are not big on'poofy stuff' either, but I totally ignored them and now have not justmy Eva Rosenstand Clover Fairy hanging in the main bathroom, I havenow added three of the cutest little tinker bell style fairies :)))One in blue & mauve, one in pink & blue and the last in pink & dustygreen :) Oh yeah, and I also recently hung the most gorgeous off-whitelace valances in the kitchen!Vancouver Island, bc.ca :) (who is still working on Mirabilia's Fairy Moon...(sigh)I do...I do. My DH is not into the frilly or poofy. When we moved into ourhouse just over a year ago he had to start learning to live with how I decoratedit. (which at the time wasn't to bad since he traveled and was gone probably 9or 10 months of the year) He started a new job first of this year & is homealmost everyday. He was complaining on a weekly basis, but recently it'sdropping to ever 2 or 3 weeks. That could have something to do with ever time hecomplains I dress DD in something frilly the next day <VBEG>. waverly fabric : A story MIL tells me is he was so bad at one time he picked up her dog from thegroomer. They had put a bow on the dog & he told the groomer to never putanother bow on her again it was to "frilly". He was such a A** about it thegroomer made a note that she was never to get another bow. MIL asked the groomerto start putting bows on Sophie again & the groomer refused, because she didn'twant to deal with DH if he happened to pick the dog up again.BeckieWIP: "Sugar" Carousel Horse by Stoney Creek for MILSoon to start: "Daisy Still Life" (CS & N - May/June 2000) for Mom "The Corsair" by Stoney Creek for DadYou would think that after 7 years I would be used to the cold in OH, but I'dtake the TX heat any day.It always amazes me that guys don't like frilly things but they sure don'tmind the lingerie do they? And they call US the walking contradictions? Deb WiseI must have an "odd" DH! It was his suggestion that I hangrose-patterned lace curtains on the back and sides of our brass canopybed (which he purchased while stationed in Korea when he was abachelor!!!). He does draw the line on flowered sheets -- not becauseof the frilly--poofy thing, but because he cannot tell which way they gowhen changing the sheets on the bed (stripes work best!!!)Jennifer GilliganLuminosity Designs waverly fabric : Does anyone knnow if there are any fabric outlet stores within 45minutes of Baltimore MD.? Thanks in advance. JenThese may not be exactly "outlets" but every time I go home toBaltimore, I visit the Pa Fabric Outlet on Route 40 about a mile west ofExit 15 off the Beltway. You never know what you will find here. Lots oftrims, laces, buttons, leather, dress fabrics, and furniture fabrics.Fabrics aren't that great but the trims are worth the trip. It's a bithard to find sort of set back from the road, across the street from aToys R Us and next to a Pizza Hut.Also in the area is a fabric store called Blank's. If you get back onthe beltway going towards Towson, get off at Security Blvd, exit 17going east. I think the street is Whitehead Road or Blvd. But it is thestreet before Woodlawn Drive. Not an outlet but different things otherthen your run of the mill JoAnn's stuff.I know some good ones, are you in the city?E-mail your location.DaynaHey, don't keep them a secret! Post it to the newsgroup so otherBaltimorons (or those who live just beyond, like me) can share theriches.
